December really is the month for communal eating parties – I have already baked for three potlucks this month, and we’re barely halfway through! In order to get prepped for the festivities that were coming up this week, I spent my Sunday elbow deep in flour, chocolate and cauliflower. That’s right, I said cauliflower.
Writing my last post about breakfast got me thinking about some of my favorite non-fast breakfast foods. Things that I like to make on weekends when I have time to prep and people to cook for, and nothing but laziness and puttering planned for the day.
Tonight, I am going to a Christmas party for Toronto+acumen, a non-profit volunteer organization I have been a part of for the past few years. The theme of this party is wine+cheese+nutella (aka awesome) and attendees have been asked to bring our favourite Nutella treats.
For someone who purports to spend at least 16 hours of each day thinking about food (aka known as every minute that I am awake), the one meal I never seem to prioritize is breakfast.
Did you guys hear about the scientific paper that concluded that cheese was as addictive as drugs?
Just to clarify, there is no crack in this brownie. There is some booze. And you may not be able to stop eating after just one piece, making it addictive. And because of this a colleague referred to these as my “crack brownies”, and so the name has stuck. But actual crack? Nope.
